SSL CERTIFICATE

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HTTP AND HTTPS?

https://www.liquibill.com/

The SSL  certificate establishes an encrypted connection between the browser and the web server.  The use of HTTP (hypertext transfer protocol) is  to transfer data on the internet between a server and a web resource.  The server operates the transmission of the  request via the browser as well as generating  response through the browser.

HTTP

HTTP is not secure the data is unencrypted as a result, the information can be intercepted by a third party. Any information entered through http website, the attackers can intercept during transfer to the server.

HTTPS

HTTPS is an extension for HTTP, the ‘S’ in the abbreviation stands for secure,  where TLS (Transport Layer Security) powers it.

The SSL  certificate establishes an encrypted connection between the browser and the web server

If you share your data in a site that don’t have HTTPS such as username, bank details, password etc. the data is susceptible to interception.  TLS  protects Transmission of data  and prevents any tampering  and authenticates the server to connect to.

THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HTTPS AND HTTP

The difference between HTTPS and HTTP is that HTTPS has an SSL certificate hence it is secure. SSL certificate ensures data protection.

Sites with HTTPS are safe, any transmission of  data  from the browser to the server undergoes encryption hence no one can access the information. The  location  of SSL certificate is  between the browser and the server
